For years, I’ve admired the variety of horseshoes stocked at Parade Handmade by Liffey Forge, from decoupaged and hand-painted designs on simple horseshoes, ingenious key racks and fairy doors. A Treasure Discovered in Tipperary
The idea for this collection took root a few years ago at a boot sale near Cahir in County Tipperary. My husband and I stumbled upon a bucket of old, rusted horseshoes—forgotten relics of hardworking horses and their journeys. Despite their worn state, I saw their potential. Initially, I envisioned using them for home projects or garden decorations, but as the time passed and demand for wedding horseshoes grew, I realised these treasures could be transformed into something truly special.
I set about the laborious process of restoring them—cleaning off rust, polishing the metal, and layering them with carefully applied paint. Then came the fun part—experimenting with different materials and designs to craft a boutique collection that would bring luck, love, and beauty to a new generation.
