What’s Cooking for 2025? New Giftware Collections in the Pipework

Amanda Coen

Happy New Year! As we step into 2025, it’s the perfect time to share what’s been bubbling away in my creative cauldron. If you caught my last blog post of 2024, you’ll know I’ve been reflecting on how to strike a balance this year between my love of creating handmade giftware and my desire to dedicate more time to art.

While I’m not one to rush my creative process, I’ve realised that if I want to embrace both passions, compromises are in order. This year, I’ll be focusing on smaller, more concise capsule collections. Boutique collections so to speak, allowing me to stay true to my craft while carving out more time for painting and personal creative pursuits.

Streamlining Without Sacrificing Creativity

As much as I adore the slow, hands-on approach, I’ve promised myself to work smarter this year. That means:

  • Starting seasonal collections earlier – Think April or May for Christmas cards and festive décor, instead of my usual summer kick-off.
  • Embracing time-saving tools – While I’ll always cherish the handmade ethos, using a sewing machine here and there can be a lifesaver. (Cue sound cancelling earphones).
  • Trimming the lineup – Some collections might be set aside to focus on designs that truly resonate.

It’s a tough call, but one that feels necessary to maintain the joy in creating and avoid the burnout of overcommitting of which I am guilty as charged!

Sneak Peek: Possible 2025 Collections

Here’s a little preview of some of what might be on the horizon. Please note – these ideas are aspirational and subject to change, but I couldn’t resist sharing!

Wedding Horseshoes

I’ve kept a stash of worn horseshoes for years, and 2025 might just be the year they find their purpose. I plan to create a collection of decorative wedding horseshoes to complement the stunning styles already offered by Liffey Forge. This arrangement agreed upon will bring a particular niche of decorative horseshoe to Parade Handmade and offer even more variety to the ranges of lucky horse shoe collections on offer.

Large Earrings by Lapanda Designs

After receiving countless compliments on my favourite large earrings, I’m thrilled to design a Lapanda Designs collection of bold, lightweight earrings. Sketches are already underway, and I can barely contain myself!

Project Bags & Craft Totes

Reusable shopping bags are a staple, but I want to offer something extra special. Using the gorgeous fabrics I sourced in Belfast, I plan to create project bags and craft totes that are as practical as they are beautiful. Stop me now!!

Felt Handbags & Book Covers

I’ve been dreaming of wet-felted book covers and a special style of felt handbags for years. Even the sketches are done already and waiting for their moment. This could be the year those plans finally come to life, along with cute clutch bags and other smaller felt creations.

Leather Journal Covers

With some stunning recycled leather remnants in my craft stash, I’m itching to craft individual rustic journal covers – the perfect mix of practicality and luxury.

Art-Driven Collections

Above all, I’ll be dedicating more time to art-related projects, including abstract wall hangings created on my tiny looms, and perhaps even clothing pieces featuring handwoven swatches...or not.. The main event will be painting and sketching. I have a stack of canvas waiting until I just say the word! Wheeeeeee!

A Capsule Approach to Creativity

Rather than sprawling collections, I’ll focus on smaller capsules that are manageable and meaningful. This approach will give me room to experiment with new ideas, while ensuring each piece receives the care and attention it deserves. Cosy scarves and hats made from fleece fabric I set aside years ago could also make an appearance as could more beret style hats and such.

And while some designs may never make it to the shop, they’ll find their place in my personal life – or as unique gifts for friends and family (you’ve been warned!).

Looking Forward to 2025

The start of a new year always fills me with a sense of possibility. There’s something magical about January and February – those calm, reflective months before the year takes off at full speed. I’m excited to see where this creative journey leads, and I hope you’ll join me along the way.

Wishing you all the very best with your own plans and dreams for 2025. Let’s make it a year to remember!
